4-run 7th inning pushes Astros past Mets

Greeneville, TN - After nine games in ten days on the road, the Greeneville Astros had a nice return home with a 7-4 win over the Kingsport Mets on Wednesday night. Trailing 4-3, the Astros put together a four-run seventh inning to clinch the victory.

The two clubs traded a run apiece in the first inning. Kingsport's Yeixon Ruiz scored on a ground out. Then, the Astros picked up a run on a Brian Blasik double following an Angel Ibanez single.

Greeneville took the lead in the second inning on a Ricky Gingras RBI-double down the right field line. Then, D'Andre Toney singled to score Gingras and give the Astros a 3-1 lead.

The Mets answered in the top of the third inning. Two walks and a single loaded the bases. Then, Kingsport scored one run on a ground out into a double play and another on a balk to even the game at 3-3.

In the sixth inning, the Mets got a baserunner when Gavin Cecchini was hit by a pitch. A Jorge Rivero single then moved Anthony Chavez, who replaced Cecchini, over to third. Then, Kingsport took the lead on a ground out to score Chavez.

Down 4-3, the Astros had a strong seventh inning. They loaded the bases and then Kingsport walked Terrell Joyce to score one run and tie the game. Then, Jean Batista hit his league-leading 14th double of the season to score two more and give the Astros the lead. Finally, Michael Martinez hit a sacrifice fly to add the final run and give Greeneville a four-run inning and a 7-4 win.

Right-hander Euris Quezada (2-1) earned the win with two hitless innings in relief. Then, Jordan Jankowski pitched the final inning, struck out two and picked up the save (2).
