Danks to Receive His MiLB Rawlings Gold Glove Award on Monday

(Fort Mill, SC) - Last season, Knights outfielder Jordan Danks lead all International League outfielders with a .997 fielding percentage and for his efforts, he was named as a 2011 MiLB Rawlings Gold Glove award-winner. On Monday, April 16, when the Knights open their seven-game homestand at Knights Stadium, Danks will receive his award.
The Knights will host the Durham Bulls in game one of their four-game series and before the game's 7:15 p.m. first pitch, Danks will be honored in a special pre-game on-field ceremony.
Minor League Baseball President Pat O'Conner will be on-hand to present the award to the Knights outfielder.
Danks is currently in his third season with Charlotte and for the second consecutive season (third overall since 2009) is considered the Best Defensive Outfielder in the White Sox system by Baseball America. Danks committed just one error in 131 games and also led IL outfielders in total chances with 329. He also had nine outfield assists.
Back in September, Minor League Baseball and Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc., announced the nine Minor League Baseball players who were chosen as recipients of a Rawlings Gold Glove Award=C2é for defensive excellence at their position. The winners were selected among qualifying players from the 10 domestic-based, full-season Minor Leagues. Each player receives their own Rawlings Gold Glove Award, modeled after the iconic award given to Major League Baseball's top defenders.
