5 Things to Know about #DALvSKC
Transition Period
FC Dallas is in the process of transitioning from the methodical buildup play style of Luchi Gonzalez to the faster and more direct style of interim head coach Marco Ferruzzi. Although it's just been over a week since Ferruzzi took charge, there have been signs in training and Dallas' last match that the shift (particularly on the defensive end) is starting to take place. Last match, FCD had seven shots on goal to Vancouver's five.
Offense
FC Dallas is tied for eighth in the league with 38 goals scored and ranks 11th with 36 assists, while Sporting Kansas City is tied for third in the league with 44 goals and ranks eighth with 39 assists. Homegrown Ricardo Pepi is tied for fifth in the Golden Boot race with 12 goals scored (3 GWG), is the highest-scoring American in the league and one of five players with three multi-goal games.
Hispanic Heritage Month
FC Dallas is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday, Sept. 29 vs. Sporting Kansas City. There will be flags representing the Hispanic and Latin countries that FC Dallas players come displayed on the south end and music throughout the night will be Hispanic and Latin themed. FC Dallas Vice President of Human Resources and Administration Evie Baker will be singing the National Anthem.
Against Kansas City
FC Dallas has a 28-26-13 (107 GF, 97 GA) all-time regular season record against Kansas City. The club's all-time home record against SKC is 16-11-5 (61 GF, 36 GA). Since 2019, FC Dallas has a 5-1-1 record against Peter Vermes' team. The clubs have faced twice this season, with FCD recording a win at Children's Mercy Park on July 31 and a loss at Toyota Stadium on Aug. 14.
