New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner has been called in to the United States Men's National Team for three 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches in October. Turner will join the United States for matches against Jamaica in Austin, Texas on October 7 (7:30 p.m. ET - ESPN2, TUDN, Univision), away at Panama on October 10 (6:00 p.m. ET - Paramount+), and Costa Rica in Columbus, Ohio on October 13 (7:00 p.m. ET - ESPN2, UniMás, TUDN).
In September, Turner started the first three games for the U.S. Men's National Team in Concacaf's final round of FIFA World Cup Qualifying, raising his total to 10 career caps with the U.S. Men's National Team. The 27-year-old owns an unbeaten 8-0-2 record with the national team. Turner established himself on the international stage as the Best Goalkeeper at the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup. The United States currently sits in third place out of eight teams in contention, with five points through three games (1-0-2).
The Park Ridge, N.J. native and 2021 MLS All-Star has led the Revolution to an 14-3-5 record in 22 starts this season, his sixth as a pro. His 14 wins are a career high and include an unbeaten 10-0-2 mark at Gillette Stadium in 2021. Turner enters the Revolution's Wednesday night match at CF Montreal riding a four-game unbeaten streak in league play. For his career, Turner is the Revolution's all-time leader in win percentage (.578) while ranking second in club annals in save percentage (.718) and goals against average (1.32).
Turner is not expected to miss MLS action as the first-place Revolution will see a break in regular season play for October's international window. The playoff-bound Revs will next take the pitch Wednesday, Sept. 29, at CF Montreal (7:30 p.m. ET - TV38, myRITV) and will then return to action on Saturday, Oct. 16 vs. Chicago Fire FC (7:00 p.m. ET - TV38, myRITV).
