Providence Bruins News Release

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th year in the American Hockey League, announced that the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins have reassigned goaltender Matt Dalton from the P-Bruins to the Reading Royals of the ECHL. With the move, the P-Bruins have 22 players on their roster, including 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.

Dalton, 23, is in his first professional season after signing an entry-level contract with the Bruins on April 22, 2009. He began this year in Providence, going 0-4-0 with a 3.98 goals-against-average and.889 save percentage over four starts. Dalton made his pro debut on October 11 against the Hartford Wolf Pack, taking the 3-2 loss despite 28 saves. He earned second star honors in his second start, a 3-2 overtime loss versus the Worcester Sharks on October 23. Then, the undrafted goalie made a career-high 41 saves in an October 31 defeat at Hartford.

The Clinton, Ontario, native turned pro following two seasons of college hockey for the Bemidji State University Beavers. Dalton helped lead the Beavers to the Frozen Four in 2008-09, making 16th-seed Bemidji State the lowest seeded team to reach the Frozen Four in NCAA Tournament history. Dalton finished the season with a 19-11-1 record and two shutouts, along with a 2.19 GAA in 31 games. His accolades included selections to the All-CHA Second Team, the NCAA All-Midwest Regional Team and the CHA All-Tournament Team.

The P-Bruins return to action this weekend with three road games, Friday at the Syracuse Crunch at 7:30 p.m., Saturday versus the Lowell Devils at 7 p.m. and Sunday at Worcester at 3:05 p.m. Providence is back on home-ice on Friday, November 20 at 7:05 p.m. against the Springfield Falcons for Dunkin' Donuts Mug Night.
