Dallas Wings to Host Celebración Latina on Friday, July 28

ARLINGTON, TX - The Dallas Wings are slated to host Celebración Latina on Friday, July 28 when the team squares off against the Washington Mystics. Tip-off set for 7 p.m. CT.

Highlighting the evening will be pre-game and halftime performances by Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico. The group's founding mission is to offer arts and cultural opportunities to an underserved population, to cultivate the growth of new audiences, and to ensure the continued growth of the arts in Dallas. Their founder, Anita N. Martinez, is a fifth-generation Texan and Mexican-American who was raised in the Dallas Mexican community known as "Little Mexico" ("El Barrio"). In 1969, Martinez gained the honor of becoming the first Hispanic person elected to serve as a Dallas City Council member and the first Hispanic woman elected into the City Council of a major American city.

Representatives from Somas Tejas will be attendance as well to assist with voter registration. In addition, the Board of the Dallas Chapter of the Hispanic Women of North Texas will be recognized during the game for their work in the DFW Hispanic community. A mariachi band will be performing for attendees on the concourse as fans enter the arena from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. prior to the game.

In the 2023 WNBA Draft, the Wings selected Lou Lopez Senechal with the fifth overall selection, making her the first-ever Mexican born player (born in Guadalajara, Mexico) to be drafted into the league. Lopez Senechal will be made available to the media pregame.

Fans will also be able to purchase a limited edition, exclusive Celebración Latina t-shirt in arena (attached).

Prior to Friday's match-up, the Wings will take on the Connecticut Sun tonight in a match-up of the third (Connecticut) and fourth (Dallas) best records in the WNBA. Dallas is in the midst of a five-game winning streak, which is currently tied for the league lead.
