Notable Storylines

Welcome To The League

Four top-10 WNBA Draft selections are expected to make their regular-season debuts on Wednesday, including a trio of top-five picks for the Dallas Wings. The No. 5 pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft, Jacy Sheldon, will be joined by the No. 4 pick from the 2023 Draft in teammate Stephanie Soares, along with 2023's No. 5 pick in Lou Lopez Senechal. Soares and Lopez Senechal did not play last season as they were recovering from injuries. Additionally, the Chicago Sky will suit up the No. 7 pick from the 2024 WNBA Draft in Angel Reese. The Sky also selected Kamilla Cardoso at No. 3 this past April, but Cardoso has been ruled out of Wednesday's game with a shoulder injury.

Sellout Streak

The Wings begin the 2024 season with a two-game homestand against the Chicago Sky starting on Wednesday night. Both the Wednesday night tilt and the Saturday night meeting with the Sky are sold out, stretching the Wings' sellout streak to four games, dating back to last season's WNBA Playoff game against the Las Vegas Aces (Sept. 29) and continuing into the 2024 preseason matchup against the Indiana Fever (May 3).

Dallas Wings To Get New Digs

City of Dallas Council Members approved a 15-year, $19 million use agreement for the Dallas Wings to play in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas Memorial Arena, beginning in 2026. The unanimous vote took place on April 24, 2024. The agreement is pending approval by the WNBA. The Wings will play the 2024 and 2025 WNBA seasons in College Park Center in Arlington, Texas, where the club has played the last eight seasons.

A Look Back

The Wings finished the 2023 regular season 22-18, marking their most wins since they moved to Dallas in 2016, and most in franchise history since 2008. The Wings scored their first playoff series victory since 2009, advancing to the 2023 WNBA Semifinals. Notable returning players for Dallas include 2023 WNBA All-Stars Arike Ogunbowale and Satou Sabally, who was also named the 2023 WNBA Most Improved Player.
