On Tuesday, the New York Liberty (1-0) defeated the Washington Mystics (0-1), 85-80, in the first game of the 2024 regular season.
The Liberty came back from an eight-point deficit to begin the fourth quarter and outscored Washington by 13 in the final frame. Last season, the team only had one comeback of eight or more points to start the fourth quarter.
New York outrebounded the Mystics by two in tonight's win. The Liberty went 28-4 (.875) when outrebounding their opponents during the 2023 regular season.

PLAYER NOTABLES Jonquel Jones scored 12 points in the first quarter on 5-6 shooting from the field and finished with 25 points on 4-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Jonquel tied her Liberty career high for three-pointers in a single game and set a new career high for three-pointers made in a season opener.
Sabrina Ionescu has made at least one three-pointer in each of her last 26 regular season games. Ionescu posted 15 points, seven rebounds and eight assists.
Betnijah Laney-Hamilton made all seven of her shots from inside the paint against Washington, finishing with 20 points on 9-13 shooting from the field. Betnijah's seven field goals in the paint were the second-most of her career in a game where she shot 100% from the paint.
