Dallas Sidekicks News Release
DALLAS (September 12, 2013)- The Dallas Sidekicks announced on Thursday that Kyle Meadows has been hired as the team's strength and conditioning coach for the upcoming 2013-14 season.
Meadows' extensive career includes serving as the strength and conditioning coach for the National Sports Academy, which has produced several Olympic athletes. He is also the founder of the Olympic Region Track Club, a United States Track and Field sanctioned youth track club. Meadows has worked with athletes from numerous sports ranging from pre-teen amateurs and international Olympians, to professional athletes such as NBA stars Chris Bosh and Anthony Randolph to name a few.
"Fitness is such a crucial element in this sport, and Kyle's experience is going to help improve the overall quality of the team," Sidekicks Head Coach Tatu said. "We feel like we have the right guys, and this specialized training will be key to improving their performance."
As a performance coach, Meadows has molded his expertise in biomechanics, speed development, plyometrics and exercise physiology by working alongside elite trainers and coaches. Meadows has forged his own innovative approach and style of training, and has summoned his expertise to create a specialized program for the Dallas Sidekicks.
"At times last season it felt like we ran out of steam in the fourth quarter, and our hope is that Kyle will help us get over that hurdle this year," team owner Ronnie Davis said.
The program's initial focus will be on conditioning, including metabolic profile tests and muscular strength tests to be performed in a lab, as well as biomechanical analysis to improve running form and power. Meadows will also work with players on improving soccer specific techniques such as change of direction, explosion and acceleration.
"Our end goal is to alter the athletic ability of our players," Meadows said. "We want to isolate specific movements and exercises that will make each player more adept at their specific position."
Meadows began training with the Sidekicks in August. The team will begin their 2013-14 season on Saturday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Allen Event Center. Tickets to the home opener are on sale now at www.dallassidekicks.net.
