Illinois Piasa News Release
Pontoon Beach, IL, 9/12/13 - Illinois Piasa has signed 6'5" defender Jaime Toro, another local player expected to make a big impact for the team this season. Jaime played youth soccer for the Metro Strikers. He played high school soccer for Parkway West where he was a four year scholar athlete, and was team captain his senior year. Toro went on to play at national power Lindenwood University where he was also a four year scholar athlete, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
"Jaime is a unique player. It's not often you find a defender that combines his size and strength with the ability to transition from defense to offense so effortlessly," said coach Montroy regarding the signing of Toro, "I think Jaime will quickly become a fan favorite because of his strong play on defense and his ability to join the attack. Jaime epitomizes why teams have open tryouts. He was a player we were not familiar with, but made such an immediate impression that we identified him as someone who would greatly improve the quality of our roster. Opposing players will likely not be looking forward to going into the corners with him."
"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to be a part of the Illinois Piasa. From what I've seen so far, I think we are going to have a great team. I am looking forward to traveling to other cities and cannot wait to experience a new level of competition in the PASL this season. We will be ready for anything other teams throw at us. I will work extremely hard on defense and will get forward to hopefully score a couple goals as well. Overall, the team needs to stay united and work together to achieve the goals that have been set for us this season," said Jaime Toro of signing with Illinois Piasa.
