BURN HOST DC UNITED SATURDAY AT COTTON BOWL
The Burn returns to MLS action this Saturday, April 6 as they host MLS Player of the Week Marco Etcheverry and DC United at 7:30 p.m. at the Cotton Bowl. United, who play at Colorado on Wednesday night, are coming off an impressive 2-0 victory over the Chicago Fire, with Etcheverry scoring the game-winning goal with a stunning free kick from just outside the box. The first 5,000 fans at Saturday's match will receive a free Dallas Burn bucket hat courtesy of Dreyer's Ice Cream.
BURN/UNITED SERIES NOTES
Dallas leads the overall series with United, 9-7, including a 3-0 victory in the only meeting last year...the Burn has owned United at the Cotton Bowl, posting a 7-2-0 record at home...Dallas has currently won four straight at home vs. United, posting a shutout in all four matches while scoring ten goals...United's last victory at the Cotton Bowl was a 1-0 win on August 7, 1998...Jason Kreis has enjoyed the most success against United, scoring seven goals and adding four assists for 18 points in 16 games.
PAREJA RETURNS TO LINEUP SATURDAY
The Burn will be with the services of their midfield engine and 2001 team MVP Saturday vs. United after Oscar Pareja was forced to sit out the opener after receiving a red card in the final match of the 2001 season. A look at the last six games that Pareja has missed for the Burn tells the full story on just how important he is to the offensive attack. In the last six games in which he hasn't played, the team is 0-5-1, has been shutout in five of those matches and has been outscored 14-1.
BURN TO TAKE PRACTICE TO FRISCO TUESDAY EVENING
As part of the Dallas Burn 5th Major Sport Program, the team will conduct a training session in conjunction with the Frisco Soccer Association at Staley Middle School in Frisco on Tuesday, April 2 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. For Tuesday's practice, the team will conduct a full practice followed by an autograph session.
SOCCER SATURDAY FEATURES TWO EXPLOSIVE TEAMS ON ESPN2
This weekend's Soccer Saturday matchup features two of the most explosive teams in MLS as the New England Revolution travel to San Jose to face the defending champion Earthquakes in a game televised nationally on ESPN2 at 2:00 p.m. (CT). The revamped Revolution feature reigning league MVP and scoring champion Alex Pineda Chacon and the ever-dangerous Mamadou Diallo. The Earthquakes will counter with 20-year-old superstar Landon Donovan and MLS Cup 2001 MVP Dwayne DeRosario.
LANCE ARMSTRONG FOUNDATION NIGHT AT THE BURN APRIL 6
The Burn will host a "Support the Lance Armstrong Foundation Ride for the Roses Night" at the Burn game this Saturday vs. DC United. A portion of all the $16 side reserved tickets sold through this effort will be donated to the Lance Armstrong Fund. Additionally, a special pregame parade will be held for all cancer survivors. Thursday, April 4 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. - Ryan Suarez, Antonio Martinez and Josue Mayard will conduct a skills clinic at the Turner Soccer Complex in Allen for all members of the Colony Youth Soccer Association.
Thursday, April 4 from 10:45 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. - Burn Assistant Coach Brian Haynes will be at James Bonham Elementary School to participate in an assembly recognizing those students that passed the TAAS test.
Sunday, April 7 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. - Jorge Rodriguez, Bobby Rhine and Antonio Martinez will conduct a skills clinic at Ford Field in Allen for all members of the Allen Soccer Association.
