Texas Stars News Release
Cedar Park, TX - The Dallas Stars announced on Thursday that the club has assigned forward Scott Glennie to the Texas Stars, Dallas' primary affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Glennie joined the Texas Stars in April of 2011, playing in the team's final four regular season games as well as the Calder Cup Playoffs. The rookie winger scored his first career playoff goal in six playoff appearances for Texas this past spring. He enters his first full season of professional hockey.
Prior to turning pro, he completed a four-year run with the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings. Glennie finished second in team scoring last season with a career-high 91 points, including 35 goals and 56 assists in 70 regular season games played. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder was chosen by the Dallas Stars in the first round (8th overall) of the 2009 National Hockey League Entry Draft. The Winnipeg native led Brandon in playoff scoring with three goals and 10 points in six games last April. The 20-year old played in 252 career games for the Wheat Kings and he became the first Brandon player since 1994 to eclipse the 300-point plateau. Glennie is one of only eleven players to score over 300 career points in franchise history. During his Wheat King career, Glennie scored 121 goals and totaled 308 points. In 39 playoff games with Brandon, he had ten goals and 39 points - good for 15th on the club's all-time list.
The Stars will take on the Houston Aeros on Friday, October 14th at 7:30 P.M. at Cedar Park Center. Friday is 3-2-1 night featuring $3 domestic drafts, $2 sodas, and $1 hot dogs. Texas travels to Oklahoma City on Saturday, October 15th for a 7:00 P.M. faceoff against the Barons.
