Abbotsford Heat News Release

Abbotsford, BC - After a team vote by the players and hockey operations staff today the Abbotsford Heat is proud to announce their captains for the upcoming 2011/12 season.

'C': Quintin Laing - Wore the 'C' for the Heat last season and is a natural leader in the locker room. With a Calder Cup Championship under his belt from his time in the Washington Capitals organization ('09/'10) Laing fits the winning attitude that Coach Ward is fostering within the organization.

'A': Joe Piskula - As an AHL veteran with 267 games played in his career Piskula is a natural fit for the leadership group of the Heat. Piskula has the championship mentality with his experience of winning the NCAA Championship with Univ. of Wisconsin ('05/'06).

'A': Guillaume Desbiens - The 6'3, 215 wrecking ball ate Abbotsford alive last season as a member of the Moose (former Canucks affiliate). He brings some offensive punch and a physically inclined style of play.

Friday night is the Heat's home-opener, which will see a Heat hat gate-giveaway to the first 5,000 fans through the doors. All Friday night games throughout the season are Loonie, Toonie, Dog 'n Brew nights which allow fans the opportunity to enjoy $1 hotdogs and $2 beer over thirteen Fridays throughout the 2011-12 season.
