(Windsor) Spitfires right-winger Dale Mitchell is the Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week as selected by the team's coaching staff for the week ending Sunday, March 29.
On Wednesday, Mitchell scored two goals, posted a plus-2 plus-minus rating and was selected as the first star of the Spitfires' 6-3 win over the Owen Sound Attack, as Windsor swept the best of seven Western Conference quarter-final playoff series against Owen Sound four games to none. The 19 year-old Mississauga, ON native scored four goals and added three assists for seven points as well as a plus-7 plus-minus rating in the series.
During the regular season, he scored 33 goals and 35 assists for 68 points and was a plus-24 in 66 games. Mitchell was selected in the third round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Spitfires will open their second round playoff series at the WFCU Centre against the Plymouth Whalers on Thursday, April 2.
