HICKORY, NC - The Hickory Crawdads hit four home runs en route to their fifth straight win, 9-6, against the West Virginia Power, before 2,057 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Friday night.

The Power (18-37) struck first in the top of the first inning against RHP Santo Perez. With two away, CF Greg Polanco kept the inning going with a base hit. DH Jose Osuna swung the Power in front with a two-run home run, before RF Carlos Mesa doubled to get a man right back on the bases. Mesa streaked home on an RBI single by 2B Dan Gamache, putting the Power in front, 3-0.

The Crawdads (28-25) got on the board right away in the bottom of the first against RHP Nick Kingham (L, 1-3). With one down, LF Chris Grayson hit the 'Dads first bomb of the game with a solo shot over the right field wall, cutting the deficit to 3-1.

Another home run by Hickory tied the game in the bottom of the second inning. RF Jordan Akins kept the frame alive with a two-out single, and then trotted home when 1B Jhonny Gomez hammered a two-run homer over the left field fence, evening the score at 3-3.

The Power responded with a pair of runs in the top of the third to retake the lead. With runners at the corners and two down, SS Francisco Aponte worked a walk to load the bases. C Elias Diaz followed suit, drawing a walk to force in a run and put the Power back in front, 4-3. A wild pitch from Perez brought home the inning's second tally, making it 5-3.

Hickory charged into its first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. 2B Rougned Odor sparked the rally with a leadoff double. Grayson then placed a single to center field, which moved Odor to third base. Grayson tried to take second base on the throw home, but 1B Chris Lashmet cut off the throw and retired Grayson at second. However, as Grayson was retired, Odor sprinted home to bring the 'Dads within one run, 5-4. One out later, CF Zach Cone tied the game with a solo home run over the right field wall. 3B Drew Robinson then worked a two-out walk to extend the inning and bring in Power RHP Clario Perez, who DH Jeremy Williams quickly welcomed to the mound with a two-run bomb, lifting Hickory into the 7-5 lead.

The 'Dads tacked on another run in the sixth inning. Akins led off with a single and promptly stole second base. After he moved to third on a ground out, Akins darted home on a Perez wild pitch, making it 8-5.

West Virginia drew one run closer on an RBI double by Gamache in the top of the seventh, but Hickory stretched the lead right back out in the bottom of the inning. Robinson got on with a one-out walk and took second when Williams was hit by a pitch. C Kellin Deglan then ripped an RBI double to right field, scoring Robinson to account for the 9-6 final score in the Hickory win.

LHP Andrew Faulkner (W, 2-3) kept the Power scoreless through three relief innings from the fourth through the sixth, earning the win. RHP Nick McBride (S, 1) also logged three innings to log the save and close the Crawdads win.
