Dads' Early Push Too Much for Intimidators

Hickory, NC-The Hickory Crawdads scored 6 runs in the first 2 innings and were able to hang on for a 7-4 win over the Kannapolis Intimidators, Tuesday at L.P. Frans Stadium.

Bobby Kingsbury started the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning. Later in the frame, Kent Sakamoto hit a 2-run bomb to left off Jose Zazueta, putting Hickory in front, 3-0, after 1.

The Dads' scored 3 more runs in the 2nd. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Alex Presley ripped a double to right to clear the bases. Presley was caught in a run-down between 2nd and 3rd, but out-hustled the Intimidators and made it safely back o 2nd.

Jared Hughes looked sharp on the mound. The I's got on the board with a pair of unearned runs in the 5th. Kannapolis scored 2 more in the 6th on Archie Gilbert's HR to left. Hughes retired the side in the 6th, and left after allowing just 2 ER in 6 IP.

Hickory got a run back in the bottom half of the 6th on an RBI single from Presley. Derrick Moeves worked a scoreless 7th. Kyle Pearson breezed through the 8th and 9th to pick up his 5th save of the season. Hughes (7-5) earned the win. Zazueta (1-8) suffered the loss.

The Crawdads continue their 4-game series with the Kannapolis Intimidators tomorrow night at 6:00 in Kannapolis. The series shifts back to L.P. Frans Stadium for the finale on Thursday. RHP Jeff Sues is scheduled to start for Hickory tomorrow in Kannapolis.
