Dach, Malysjev on NHL Central Scouting November Watch List
November 12, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
Saskatoon, Sask. - Two members of the Saskatoon Blades have been ranked on the NHL Central Scouting's Players to Watch List for November. Kirby Dach is one of 24 'A' ranked prospects in the world, and one of six in the Western Hockey League. Emil Malysjev is one of 28 'C' ranked prospects from the WHL.
Kirby Dach, a 6'4" centre from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, currently sits tied with Portland's Cody Glass for fourth in WHL scoring with 34 points. Dach is the only 17-year-old in the WHL's top 10 scoring; the other 9 players are either 19 or 20. So far this season Dach has been named the CHL and WHL Player of the Week and the September/October Blades' Player of the Month.
With 11 goals and 34 points in just 21 games, Dach has registered multiple points in 11 of those games. Many hockey analysts such as TSN's Bob McKenzie predict Dach as a top 5 pick for this year's NHL Draft. Dach was also one of three 2001 born players to represent Team WHL at the CIBC Canada Russia Series earlier this month.
Swedish defenseman Emil Malysjev is a rookie in the Western Hockey League having joined the Blades this off-season after being selected in the 2018 CHL Import Draft. A rangy, 6'3", left-handed defender, Malysjev has transitioned to the North American game with ease. In 20 games this season, the defence-first blueliner has chipped in with 6 assists.
The 2019 NHL Entry will take place in Vancouver, British Columbia, with the first round scheduled for Friday, June 22nd. Round 2-7 will take place on June 23rd. NHL Central Scouting will release their next updated list of rankings again in mid January prior to the CHL Top Prospects game.
