Long Island Ducks News Release
(Lancaster, Penn., May 7, 2013) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers 8-3 on Tuesday afternoon in the second game of a four-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
Long Island lit the scoreboard first for the fifth consecutive game as Danny Perales led off the game with a solo home run to right and Adam Bailey lifted a sac fly to center four batters later off Barnstormers starter Jay Buente. The Ducks added two more to their lead in the fifth on Ryan Strieby's RBI single up the middle and a throwing error on Gustavo Molina that allowed Ben Broussard to score from third.
Lancaster put together a two-out rally in the seventh to cut the lead to one against Ducks starter Dontrelle Willis. A RBI single by Daryle Ward and a two-run base hit by Charlie Neil closed the gap to 4-3. However, a four-run ninth inning by the Flock put the game away. Bailey's three run double down the right field line and Joash Brodin's RBI single to right did the damage.
Willis (1-1) earned his first win as a Duck, tossing six and two-thirds innings, allowing just two runs on four hits while striking out two. Buente (1-2) took the loss, yielding two runs on four hits and two walks in just four innings of work.
Bailey, Strieby and Josh Barfield each had three-hit games for Long Island, with Bailey's four RBI leading the offensive attack.
The Ducks and Barnstormers continue their four-game series on Wednesday night. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. from Clipper Magazine Stadium. Right-hander Nick DeBarr takes the mound for the Ducks against Barnstormer southpaw and former Duck Lenny DiNardo.
