Bridgeport Falls Late to Sharks

(Bridgeport, Conn. - May 7, 2013) - The Bridgeport Bluefish were defeated by the Camden Riversharks 6-4 in Tuesday night's game at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Josh Butler got the start and pitched six innings. He allowed four runs (three earned) on nine hits, struck out two batters and was not involved in the decision.

Bridgeport got on the board first. In the second inning, Luis Lopez (3-for-4) led off with a double; Yusuf Carter (2-for-3, 2 R, 3 RBI) knocked him home with a two-out double of his own. Brandon Chaves had an infield single that allowed Carter to score from second on an error.

After Camden tied up the game in the fourth inning, it was up to Carter again to break the tie. Luis Rodriguez (2-for-4, R) connected on a two-out single in the frame. Carter followed that up by hitting his first homerun with the Bluefish, and gave the team a 4-2 advantage.

The Riversharks got those two runs back in the sixth inning with three straight singles. Eduardo Perez and Chris Walker scored the two runs.

The game was decided in the ninth inning as Kanekoa Texeira (2-2) came into the ball game for Bridgeport. He took the loss for the 'Fish by giving up two unearned runs in the frame.

Camden started Keith Weiser who pitched five and two thirds innings giving up eight hits and four runs (three earned). The win went to Jordan Ellis (1-0), who pitched in the eighth inning. He struck out two batters, gave up a hit and made way for Adrian Martin to pick up his fourth save of the year.

The two teams will meet again in a day/night double header. Game one starts at 11:05 a.m. with the Bluefish sending Michael Colla (1-0) taking on Camden's Josh Walter (1-1) and game two with Bridgeport's Hunter Jones (0-2) against Ryan Kulik (1-1) of the Riversharks with the first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. Ticket are available at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard Ticket Office, by calling (203) 210-BLUE or visiting www.bridgeportbluefish.com.
