Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release
El SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders never trailed and led by as many as 19 points en route to a 99-86 victory over the Texas Legends at Toyota Sports Center on Wednesday night. The win is the third in the last four games for the D-Fenders (16-20).
Tied at five points just under four minutes into the contest, the D-Fenders closed the first quarter on a 27-10 run and latched on to a 50-38 lead at halftime. While the Legends won the third quarter by three points and whittled the lead to five at one point, the D-Fenders early cushion helped earn the victory.
Los Angeles' Morris Almond contributed a game-high 27 points, Courtney Fortson tallied 23 points, 14 assists, seven rebounds and seven steals (T-Franchise record; Frank Robinson, 7 steals vs. Bakersfield, 3/2/10), and Malcolm Thomas registered 17 rebounds to go along with 13 points in his season debut. Additionally, Elijah Millsap posted 15 points to go along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Jerome Jordan scored 13 points for the D-Fenders.
Texas (17-22) was paced by Sean Singletary (21 points, 6 rebounds) and Justin Dentmon (17 points). Additionally, Christian Eyenga, Melvin Ely and Fred House pitched in 11 points apiece for the Legends.
The D-Fenders play game two of a four-game home stand on Saturday, Mar. 9 against the Austin Toros (NBA Affiliate: San Antonio Spurs) at 6:30 pm.
