Frisco, TX (Mar 6, 2013)-- The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), fell short to the Los Angeles D-Fenders in an 86-99 fight to the finish.
The D-Fenders grabbed the lead within seconds of tipoff and never relinquished it. The Legends were chipping away at a 17-point deficit during the second quarter but still came up short, entering the locker room down 38-50. During the third quarter LA took a game-high 17-point lead before the Legends went on a 12-0 run near the end to tighten the score. The fourth quarter sparked hope as Justin Dentmon hit back-to-back free throws to decrease the lead to seven, but the D-Fenders answered quickly with a three-pointer by Morris Almond in a 19-13 surge to victory.
Sean Singletary led the Legends with 21 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 assists. Dwayne Jones grabbed 9 boards and Christian Eyenga posted 4 blocked shots.
Almond led the D-Fenders with a game-high 27 points. Courtney Fortson (23 points, 14 assists) and Malcolm Thomas (13 points, 17 rebounds) boasted the game's only double-doubles.
The Legends will return home for a short rest before traveling to Erie, IN to take on the Bayhawks Tuesday, March 12th at 7pm. Fans can catch all the action live at the NBA D-League's Youtube channel or on www.texlegends.com.
