March 7, 2013 - NBA G League (G League)
Erie BayHawks News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania, Tuesday, March 5 - The Erie BayHawks and the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) today unveiled commemorative stars and stripes themed uniforms the team will wear on Saturday, March 23 during the team's second annual "Salute Our Troops" night. The uniforms will be auctioned off following the game with proceeds benefiting the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Project.
"LECOM is proud of the many graduates who have either served in the military before attending LECOM or who have chosen to serve their country as military physicians and other health care professionals," according to Regan Shabloski, D.O., LECOM Assistant Dean of Clinical Education and advisor to the Military Medicine Club. "We join the BayHawks in saluting all of the service members past present and future. As a member of Operation Joint Forces, serving wounded service members and their families, LECOM supports the BayHawks efforts to contribute to the Pennsylvania Wounded Warrior Project."
The royal blue uniforms include the BayHawks traditional wordmark with an American flag pattern overlay. The jersey and shorts also include red, white and blue stars throughout.
The special uniforms are part of several special initiatives that LECOM and the BayHawks have planned to honor military personnel:
* The BayHawks will reward the most patriotically dressed fan, run American/military themed promotions, have players and fans sign a "Thank You" banner to be given to the troops and honor all former and current military members;
* The commemorative uniforms will be auctioned off via bids placed at the arena during the game on March 23;
* Current and retired military personnel receive free tickets to the March 23 game when they show their military ID or DD214 card at the Erie Insurance Arena box office;
* Mini American flags will be distributed to the first 500 fans through the doors;
Fans can purchase tickets at Erie Insurance Arena box office or by calling 814-452-857.
