NOTEWORTHY
WELCOME TO THE Z-FENDERS: The Los Angeles Lakers assigned center Ivica Zubac to the D-Fenders on Wednesday, Nov. 17. The 32nd overall selection in the 2016 NBA Draft, Zubac is the 18th Lakers player to be developed by the D-Fenders and he will become the 22nd player to ever play for both teams, if he plays in tonight's game.
LEADERS CHASING MARKS: Guards Vander Blue and Josh Magette could each close in on historical marks in tonight's game. For Blue, seven defensive rebounds would give him sole possession of the D-Fenders all-time record, while five assists in tonight's contest will propel Magette into 19th place on the league's all-time list.
BLUE, TOP NBA PROSPECT: Los Angeles guard Vander Blue was named as the top NBA prospect from an NBA D-League panel of professional scouts, former players and writers with the league's official website, dleague.nba.com. The 25-person ranking was topped by Blue, and forward Justin Harper came in at No. 23.
2016-17 SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN
- The D-Fenders have 10 sets of back-to-back games in 2016-17
- The longest home stand of the year is 10 days/four games
(1/5-1/26, 12/1-12/10)
- The longest road trip of the year is 11 days/six games (1/29-2/8)
- Los Angeles will have three 'three-game in four-night' sets this season.
- The D-Fenders will challenge the Sioux Falls Skyforce on four occassions this season in a rematch of last year's
NBA D-League Finals.
BLUE'S BEST: Blue, now in his third season with the D-Fenders, has stamped his name throughout the Los Angeles record book. In addition to being the franchise's all-time leading scorer, Blue is also LA's all-time leader in minutes, steals, field goals made and attempted, and free throws made and attempted. BLUE AMONG THE LEAGUE'S ALL-TIME LEADERS: Blue's 2,938 career points with Los Angeles, Idaho, Delaware and Maine is currently good for 13th in NBA D-League history. The guard out of Marquette is 103 points away from surpassing Justin Dentmon for 12th place all-time.
MASTER MAGETTE: Josh Magette has positioned himself as perhaps the best point guard in LA's history. Now in his third season with the team, the Alabama-Huntsville graduate leads the D-Fenders in career assists (775 ) and steals (216 ). His assist total is good for 20th on the all-time NBA D-League leader charts, and he's just 5 dimes away from surpassing Tierre Brown for 19th place.
FRANCHISE HISTORY: The Los Angeles D-Fenders franchise, entering its 10th season, has won two division titles (2012, 2014) and advanced to the NBA D-League Finals twice (2012 and 2016). The first team in league history to be owned by an NBA franchise, the D-Fenders are still chasing their first-ever NBA D-League title.
