New York, N.Y. (Aug. 13, 2015) - D.C. United (13-8-5, 44 points) saw its season-high three-game winning streak come to an end in a 3-1 loss in its inaugural match against expansion side New York City FC (7-11-6, 27 points) in the Black-and-Red's first visit to Yankee Stadium.
Ãlvaro SaborÃo put the visitors ahead in the 36th minute after an interception and feed by Chris Rolfe.
Thomas McNamara, David Villa and Kwadwo Poku scored for New York City FC in the second half.
D.C. United returns to action on Aug. 19 on the road against Ãrabe Unido in Panama in its first game in the 2015-16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League.
*D.C. United remains atop the MLS Supporters Shield standings and the Eastern Conference.
*Ãlvaro SaborÃo scored his second goal for D.C. United and the 65th of his MLS career.
*Chris Rolfe recorded his fourth assist of 2015 and the 32nd of his career.
*Bill Hamid recorded four saves and saw his scoreless streak end at 400 minutes, the longest streak in MLS this season.
*D.C. United allowed a goal between the 46th and 60th minutes for the first time in 2015.
*D.C. United utilized its 24th different starting lineup in 26 games.
*D.C. United is now 6-2-3 when scoring the first goal and 2-1-2 when leading at halftime.

*Sean Franklin made his first start since June 6, a span of nine games.
*Michael Farfan made his first appearance since May 23, a span of 13 games.
