D.C. United News Release

Washington, D.C. (August 22, 2007) - D.C. United announced today it has upgraded defender Marc Burch from the developmental roster to the 18-man senior roster. Burch was previously acquired from the Columbus Crew on April 4 in exchange for the club's 2008 3rd round natural Supplemental Draft pick.

"Marc has worked hard to earn a spot on the senior roster," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper. "We are excited about his future with the club."

Burch has seen time in seven League games (four starts) this season and contributed two assists. The six-foot, two-inch defender also started three of four SuperLiga games this year, putting his stamp on the left back position.

Burch saw time in seven games (five starts) for the Crew last year after being acquired from Los Angeles. The forward made three appearances with the Galaxy in 2006 after being selected in the second round of the 2006 MLS SuperDraft after a successful collegiate career.

Following three years at the University of Evansville (2002-2004), Burch transferred to the University of Maryland and helped the team to the 2005 NCAA Championship. He scored the game-winning goal in the College Cup final against New Mexico, a 1-0 victory. While at Evansville, Burch scored seven goals and added 22 assists. He was a three-time All-MVC pick and a first team NSCAA All-Midwest selection as a sophomore. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Burch was named the Gatorade National High School Player of the Year in 2001.
