D.C. United's Josh Wicks Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery

Washington, D.C. (November 18, 2009) - D.C. United announced today goalkeeper Josh Wicks underwent successful medial menisectomy on his right knee. Doctor Andrew Parker of Commonwealth Orthopaedics performed the surgery. Wicks, who had shoulder surgery on Oct. 29, is not expected to miss more than the original four to six months.

The netminder joined United at the beginning of the season, in a trade with the Los Angeles Galaxy. During his first season in D.C., Wicks played and started 19 games for the Black-and-Red. He recorded five shutouts and posted a 1.4 goals against average on the season. The California native dislocated his shoulder after colliding with a player during the September 27 match against San Jose.
