D.C. United News Release
Washington, D.C. (May 17, 2011) - D.C. United's Youth Academy faced two opponents over the past weekend, compiling a 2-5-1 overall record against FC Delco and PA Classics. The U-14 and U-15 clubs played at home, while United's U-16 and U-18 sides travelled to Pennsylvania for their matches.
The U-15's enjoyed the most success over the weekend, defeating FC Delco and earning a draw with PA Classics. Two goals from Heynar Pajaro and an additional tally from Christian Najar led the U-15's past FC Delco, 2-1 on Saturday, May 14. Juan Tamayo then scored the lone goal for United in a 1-1 draw with PA Classics the following day.
Marcus Salandy-Defour led the U-18's past FC Delco on May 14, scoring all three goals in United's 3-2 victory. However, the Black-and-Red could not keep pace on Sunday, May 15 against PA Classics, as United fell 3-2 despite goals from Lester Dewee and Jalen Robinson. Mikias Eticha finished the weekend with three assists.
The U-14 and U-16 squads each lost both of their matches, despite competitive outings. The U-14's fell to FC Delco 2-1, and then lost to PA Classics 3-1 the next day. Josimar Coreas and Tony Ramelmeier provided the goals in each game, respectively. United's U-16's were shutout against FC Delco 1-0, and then lost to PA Classics 2-1, with the Black-and-Red goal coming from Juan Tamayo.
