D.C. United News Release
Washington, D.C. (January 22, 2009) - D.C. United announced today the club is set to loan defender Gonzalo Peralta to Union Sante Fe of the Argentine Second Division. Due to the loan, the 28-year old will not return to United for the 2009 season. Per club and League policy, terms of the loan were not disclosed.
Peralta was originally acquired by the Black-and-Red on January 28, 2008. Playing primarily as a central defender, the Argentine struggled during the second half of the 2008 season with a nagging hernia injury. All told, he appeared in 18 League matches (17 starts). Peralta appeared in seven other games in all competitions, starting five of them.
He tallied one goal in 2008, netting in a 3-2 win against Toronto FC on May 24. He suffered a major setback after he suffered a sports hernia injury on June 29 against the L.A. Galaxy. He managed just five League appearances after picking up the injury. Prior to joining D.C. United, he played for Club Almirante Brown and Club Comunicaciones in Argentina.
