
San Jose Earthquakes Announce the 2009 Pre-Season Schedule

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today their preseason schedule as they prepare for the 2009 Major League Soccer season. The Earthquakes open training camp on Sunday, January 25 with physical examinations before beginning training on Monday, January 26 at Buck Shaw Stadium at 10:00 a.m. PT. The Quakes will spend pre-season in Santa Clara, San Luis Obispo and Los Angeles leading up to the home opener on Saturday, March 21 against the New England Revolution at 7:30 p.m. at Buck Shaw Stadium.
The Earthquakes will spend the first two weeks training at Buck Shaw Stadium from January 26 - February 11. The Quakes will depart on February 12 for San Luis Obispo, where the team will conduct pre-season at Cal Poly from February 12-15. During their time in San Luis Obispo the team will compete in the MLS Central Coast Showcase against the Seattle Sounders on Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m. PT and the Houston Dynamo on Feb. 15 at 1:00 p.m. PT.
Frank Yallop's squad will then return to Santa Clara where they will train from February 16 -28. The Quakes will play two games in that stretch, against the Fresno Fuego in Fresno and Cal-Berkeley.
The Quakes will make their final trek of the preseason to Carson, Calif. where they will train for a week. San Jose will play the Colorado Rapids on March 2 at The Home Depot Center and could play as many as three total games that week. San Jose will then head back to Santa Clara for the last two weeks of pre-season. During that stretch, they will play another match against Cal-Berkeley on March 11.

February 13 - Earthquakes vs. Seattle Sounders at 7:00 p.m. PT
February 15 - Earthquakes vs. Houston Dynamo at 1:00 p.m. PT
Monday, February 16 - Friday, February 27: Training at Buck Shaw Stadium.
February 20 - Earthquakes vs. Fresno Fuego at 7:00 p.m. PT at Chukchansi Park in Fresno, Calif.
February 25 - Earthquakes at Cal-Berkeley at 2:30 p.m.
Sunday, March 1-Saturday, March 7: Training in Carson, California.
March 2 - Earthquakes vs. Colorado Rapids at The Home Depot Center.
Monday, March 9 - Friday, March 20: Training at Buck Shaw Stadium.
March 11 - Earthquakes at Cal Berkeley. Time to be determined.
