
D.C. United to host Art Works FC, Homeless Soccer Team

WASHINGTON, DC (June 13, 2005) - D.C. United will meet with the twenty members of Art Works FC, the U.S. representative for the homeless World Cup, following the Black-and-Red's training session on Tuesday June 14, 2005. Art Works FC is based out of Charlotte, N.C. and will also be honored during halftime at Wednesday's game with the Chicago Fire (Kickoff 7:30 p.m.). The team is preparing to take part in the upcoming Homeless World Cup in Edinburgh, Scotland July 19-24.

When: Following United's training session (10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) on Tuesday, June 15
Where: RFK Auxiliary Fields next to RFK Stadium 2400 East Capitol St. SE, Washington D.C.
Organized by the International Network of Street Papers, the Homeless World Cup is sponsored by UEFA and the United Nations in support of creating a positive impact on global poverty. The tournament will take place over six days in Edinburgh, Scotland and will comprise of 32 homeless teams from around the world. The impact from the previous two Homeless World Cups has shown the experience to have profound results in transforming players' lives.
