
D.C. United to Hold Annual Holiday Equipment Sale

Washington, D.C. (December 3, 2012) - D.C. United today announced plans for the club's annual holiday equipment sale. Set for Saturday, December 14 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., the event will be held inside RFK Stadium's Capitol View Club and will feature authentic D.C. United team-issued gear. Full Season Ticket Holders who present their membership cards will be granted early entry at 11:00 a.m. All proceeds from the sale will benefit United's charitable arm, United for D.C., which champions educational, health and recreational programs and events that serve disadvantaged youth of greater Washington, D.C. by engaging the resources and skills of D.C. United and our community. The official team store, located at RFK Stadium's Main Gate, will also be open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The sale will include items such as game-worn player jerseys and shorts, practice jerseys, long sleeve tops, sweatshirts, team jackets, training pants, team polos and match balls. This sale is open to the general public, and fans are advised to park in Lot 5 and line up to enter via the D.C. United Team Store located at the Main Gate. Only cash and credit cards will be accepted at both locations with the Capitol View Club offering a cash only line this year.
At the equipment sale, the club will also be collecting new and unwrapped toys to benefit local, deserving kids in the greater Washington, D.C. area. Toys will be collected in the Capitol View Club, and all toy donors will be entered into a drawing for a team-autographed D.C. United soccer ball.
Founded in 2002, United for D.C. serves youth and families with a focus on healthy lifestyles, literacy and education, and improving life skills. United Soccer Club, sponsored by the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Volkswagen, Gallup Community Builders and The D.C. Department of Health, is one of the many community outreach ventures of United for D.C. Others include the Kicks for Kids program, through which thousands of underprivileged children will have an opportunity to watch United play next season, as well as United Reads, currently presented in six DC elementary schools. This program distributes nearly 8,000 books during player visits throughout the year.
