D.C. United News Release
Washington, D.C. - D.C. United today announced, through the United Drives program, that it will be collecting elementary school supplies for United Reads on Saturday, Aug. 24 before United's match against Toronto FC. All school supplies will be donated to United for D.C. and will be distributed through the charity's United Reads program. Serving six D.C. Public Schools, United Reads teaches children the importance of reading and education through school assemblies and in-class visits from D.C. United players and volunteers.
"With the support of D.C. United fans, we are confident we can provide the tools children need to be successful in school," said Executive Director of United for D.C. Aprile Pritchet.
The United Drives booth is located outside of RFK Stadium's Gate A and will open an hour and a half prior to kickoff, closing 15 minutes into the first half. Any fan that donates an item will receive a "Buy One, Get One Free" ticket voucher valid for any D.C. United regular-season home game as well as a United promotional item, as a thank you from the club. Donations are accepted in the D.C. United offices on game and non-game days, located on the fourth floor of RFK Stadium.
