D.C. United News Release
Washington, D.C. (April 16, 2010) - D.C. United announced today the club has released goalkeeper Josh Wicks. The netminder was acquired by United from the L.A. Galaxy last year in exchange for a conditional draft pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.
"We would like to thank Josh for his contributions to D.C. United and wish him the best of luck in the future," said United General Manager Dave Kasper.
Wicks secured the number one spot for United last year after a heavy rotation of goalkeepers early in the season. In all, Wicks saw time in 19 league matches (all starts) during the season, earning five shutouts and a 5-5-8 record. Wicks also played in two U.S. Open Cup games and four CONCACAF Champions League matches. Wicks' season was brought to an early close after he dislocated his shoulder and sprained his MCL trying to stop a corner kick against San Jose on September 27, 2009.
