Washington, D.C. (April 15, 2010) - As part of D.C. United's continued efforts to serve the greater Metropolitan area, the club announced today a partnership with MLS W.O.R.K.S. and Habitat for Humanity of Washington, Northern Virginia, and Montgomery County, Md.

United will kickoff a three-day, three-city build beginning in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, July 13. On July 17 a second build will take place in Northern Virginia, followed by the third and final project in Montgomery County on July 20. The club is seeking up to 50 volunteers at each building site to accompany D.C. United players in providing affordable housing for low-income families in the D.C. Metropolitan area. Details on how to participate will be released shortly.

Habitat for Humanity's mission is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness by building decent, affordable and resource-efficient homes for people in need. Habitat for Humanity of Washington D.C. was founded in 1988, and since that time the organization has built more than 100 homes and renovated 75 low-income cooperative units in the District of Columbia. Similarly, the local Habitat chapters in Northern Virginia and Montgomery County, Md. have constructed and revitalized neighborhoods across the Metropolitan area though their efforts.
