
D.C. United Announces Plans for Post-Season Tour in Southeast Asia

Washington, D.C. (November 4, 2013) - D.C. United, in conjunction with Mahaka Sports and Entertainment, today announced its plans for a post-season tour in Southeast Asia, with the club in Indonesia from Dec. 3 through Dec. 9. While there, the Black-and-Red will participate in two friendlies - one against Persib Bandung (Indonesia Super League) on Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. local time and one against Arema FC (Indonesia Super League) on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. local time. Both friendly matches will be televised on SCTV, the largest free-to-air TV station in Indonesia. In addition to the friendlies, the team will participate in youth clinics bringing together community leaders and youth soccer fans.
"We are proud to partner with Mahaka Sports and Entertainment to compete against two successful Indonesian clubs," said D.C. United Chief Operating Officer Michael Williamson. "These matches will provide global exposure for our club and league in a market where soccer is ingrained in the daily lifestyle of the region."
Mahaka Sports and Entertainment has previously coordinated international tours for fellow MLS side LA Galaxy, as well as Barclay's Premier League club Liverpool. Established in 2002, the company has taken a significant role in almost every major sports and entertainment event that has happened in Indonesia.
About D.C. United's Friendly Opponents
Persib Bandung is a club from Bandung, West Java that was founded in 1933 and plays competitively in the Indonesia Super League. The seven-time national title winners have one of the largest fan bases in the country with over three million Facebook likes and one million twitter followers.
Arema FC, also a member of the in the Indonesia Super League, is based in Malang, East Java. Founded in 1987, the team has captured five domestic titles in its history and reached the quarterfinals of the AFC Cup in 2012.
