D.C. United News Release
Washington, D.C. (March 4, 2014) - D.C. United and DC Brau Brewing Company, LLC, announced that the public release of the 12 oz. can for D.C. United's themed beer, The Tradition, will take place on March 8 before the Black-and-Red's Home Opener against the Columbus Crew at 7 PM at RFK Stadium.
Before the regular season Home Opener, supporters can get a taste of The Tradition at a special season kick-off party at D.C. United's Official Bar Partner Penn Social (801 E St NW, Washington, DC 20004) from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Supporters will have the opportunity to meet D.C. United players and check out the club's 1996, 2008 and 2013 U.S. Open Cup trophies. Admission is open to the general public. Penn Social is a 21+ establishment.
On March 8, 12oz. cans of The Tradition voted on by D.C. United fans will be available for the first time at the brewery (3178 Bladensburg Rd NE, Washington, DC 20018). Supporters can pick up a six-pack or fill a growler with The Tradition before heading to Lot 8 for the club's Home Opener. The DC Brau brewery is open on Saturday, March 8 from 12 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
"I am excited that DC Brau is able to release 12oz. cans of The Tradition right in time for the kickoff of our 2014 MLS Season," said D.C. United's Marketing Manager Andrew Minucci. "The enthusiasm of our Supporters is the sole reason we were able to continue this project with DC Brau, and we look forward to seeing our fans enjoy delicious beer crafted specifically for them."
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase the "Have a Beer On Us" ticket package that includes a ticket to the March 29 home game against the Chicago Fire and a 12oz. pour of "The Tradition" for $27. Tickets for the "Have a Beer On Us" promotion can be purchased here.
United and DC Brau first announced the craft beer partnership on May 15 with a "Brand the Brew" contest that allowed fans to submit names for the one-of-a-kind brew. On June 6, Donald Wine II's submission of The Tradition was selected by members of the Black-and-Red as the official winner of the contest.
The Tradition will be available at D.C. United home games at RFK Stadium for a limited time. Tickets for D.C. United's March 8 Home Opener are still available and can be purchased here.
