
D-Braves Take Second Game of Series

DANVILLE, VA - The D-Braves continue a hot start to their 2014 season in Kingsport winning the second in a row in the opening series over the Mets 7-2.
A rookie led the offensive charge for the night with shortstop Codey McElroy, who went 4-5 with three RBI, and outfielder Cody Livesay who went 3-4 with a double, walk, and three runs scored. The Danville offense as a unit had an on base percentage of .475 on the night keeping the Mets defense to their heels.
Pitcher Andrew Waszak started on the bump for the Braves, and went four strong innings. Waszak struck out three batters, and did not surrender a hit or walk while on the mound. Carlos Salazar, Matt Weaver, and Luis Miranda all made relief appearances sharing five innings, giving up two runs and striking out five as a group.
The Braves get the five run win despite committing three errors, none of which resulted in a run.
The series continues Saturday night in Kingsport with the final game in the three game set. The matchup is set for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch at Hunter Wright Stadium.
