Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones have signed forward Jack Downing for the 2015-2016 season. Downing spent the final 16 games of last season in Cincinnati following a trade from the Missouri Mavericks.
"Jack came in late last year and made an immediate impact, and we are happy to have him back in Cincinnati," said Cyclones Head Coach Matt MacDonald. "We know that he can provide leadership and experience to our locker room, and he is a guy who brings a high level of professionalism on and off the ice."
Acquired from the Mavericks on March 12, the New Canaan, CT, native wasted little time introducing himself to the Cyclones, recording a hat trick in just his second game with the 'Clones. He finished with 10 goals and five assists in his 16 games played in Cincinnati.
In addition to Cincinnati and Missouri, he also suited up for the South Carolina Stingrays last season and finished fourth on the team in scoring with 25 points (16g, 9a) in 43 games played. Overall, Downing has skated in 177 ECHL contests with Cincinnati, Missouri, South Carolina and the Elmira Jackals, accounting for 63 goals and 54 assists for 117 points.
The 6'3", 210 pounder has also seen time at the American Hockey League (AHL) level, appearing in 83 career games with the Binghamton Senators, Providence Bruins, and Iowa Wild, accounting for 12 goals and nine assists in those contests. In 260 career games since turning pro in 2011, Downing has accounted for 73 goals and 63 assists for 136 points.
Downing is a 2011 graduate of the University or Vermont, where he was a four-year letter winner for the Catamounts. He totaled 63 points (35g, 28a) in 113 career games, and served as the team's assistant captain during his senior season.
