Toledo Walleye News Release
TOLEDO, OH -- Defenseman and team captain Jared Nightingale has agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2015-16 season.
A native of Jackson, Michigan, Nightingale was team captain last year helping Toledo to a record 50 win season with four points (2G, 2A) in 24 games played. He also skated in 14 playoff contests with the Walleye, including scoring the game-tying goal in game five of the Eastern Conference Finals in South Carolina.
"Jared brings great leadership and experience to our team," said Head Coach Derek Lalonde. "He was a big part of establishing our winning and team-first culture last year and will be looked upon to do the same this year."
Since turning professional in 2006, the 32-year-old defenseman has collected 903 penalty minutes along with 52 points (14G, 38A) in 429 games in the American Hockey League. Nightingale played for Norfolk, Hartford, Grand Rapids, Milwaukee and Syracuse at different points last year. He has also skated with Springfield, Iowa, Connecticut and Rockford of the American Hockey League in his career.
The 6'3", 205-pound defenseman has 138 career ECHL contests with 31 points (6G, 25A) and 400 penalty minutes. Nightingale played for Idaho in 2006-07 and Charlotte 2007-2010 in his other ECHL stops. Prior to turning professional, he played his college hockey for Michigan State from 2002-2006 and was an Assistant Captain in his Junior and Senior seasons. Nightingale was a plus 14 for the Spartans.
