Toledo, OH -- The Cincinnati Cyclones downed the Toledo Storm 2-1 to claim a 1-game-to-none series lead in the ECHL's Northwest Division Finals on Friday at the Toledo Sports Arena.

Cincinnati forward Paul Strand scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 2:26 of the third period when his backhanded wrap-around shot got past Doug Teskey and into the Toledo net.

Again the Cyclones were led by goaltender Greg Hewitt who finished the game with 31 saves for his fourth playoff win.

The Cyclones struck first when Steve Gallace blasted home his first of the playoffs at 10:29 of the first period to give the visitors a 1-0 lead after one period of play.

In the second period, Toledo would answer at 12:21 of the frame when Nathan Lutz collected his first of the post-season to even the game at 1-1.

Game 2 of the best-of-five series will be played on Saturday at the Toledo Sports Arena with an opening face-off set for 7:30 PM.
