Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

Cincinnati, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, a secondary affiliate of the National Hockey League's San Jose Sharks, today announced the signing of three more players for the 2002-03 East Coast Hockey League season pushing to 18 the number of players currently under contract.

Forward Mike Henderson, defenseman Ryan O'Keefe, and rookie defenseman Thomas Scantlebury became the latest acquisitions for head coach Malcolm Cameron's club, which is now virtually intact for the team's pending European tour in late September.

Henderson spent the entire 2001-02 campaign with the Cyclones, appearing in all 72 regular season games. The native of Mississauga, Ontario was the club's second-leading rookie points scorer by accumulating 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists). The speedy right wing joined the Cyclones from the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts where he had spent the previous two seasons.

O'Keefe had a trying rookie season with the Cyclones, battling through injuries that limited his playing time to 33 games. The 6'3", 225 lbs. native of Mississauga, Ontario picked up four points (3 goals, 1 assist) and 67 penalty minutes. A broken wrist suffered in late October kept him sidelined until February.

Scantlebury is entering his first season of professional hockey following five seasons of major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League with Kamloops and Lethbridge, and one season of Canadian college-level play at the University of Alberta. Known as a solid, defensive-style defenseman, the 6'2", 205 lbs. native of Birtle, Manitoba provides the Cyclones with depth at an important position.

"These three players are all at a point in their career where they can really take a step forward with solid seasons," said Cyclones Head Coach Malcolm Cameron. "Mike Henderson is one of the league's fastest skaters and he's got a cannon for a shot. Ryan battled through injuries but really started to turn the corner in terms of development as the season progressed, and Thomas comes from successful junior teams and a year of playing top-level competition in the Canadian university system."

Tickets can be purchased at the U.S. Bank Arena Box Office between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
