Brooklyn Cyclones News Release
Brooklyn, NY, May 16, 2012 - Have you ever "liked" a post on Facebook or checked in someplace using Foursquare? Most of us have and it's hard to imagine a world without social media at our fingertips. Now, the Brooklyn Cyclones are giving their fans the chance to earn points and win prizes for things they already do every single day with the innovative, new Cyclones Social Scoreboard.
This unique endeavor - among the first in professional sports - will provide incentives to fans for liking or sharing posts, checking in at MCU Park, tweeting using certain hash tags or retweeting from Cyclones Twitter feeds. The more active you are, the more you can win, with prizes including a trip for two to Mets Spring Training in 2013, a fully-catered luxury suite at MCU Park for a Cyclones game and much more.
"The Cyclones Social Scoreboard is unlike anything that our fans have seen before, particularly with the prizes we are offering," said Cyclones General Manager Steve Cohen. "We are very excited to be able to provide our fans with a fun, interactive way they can support the team while also rewarding them for their loyalty."
How To Play
To register, fans can visit www.CyclonesSocialScoreboard.com and click the Sign Up Now button. From there, participating is as simple as engaging with the Cyclones on Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and CrowdCameo. Every time you share a Cyclones story with your friends, retweet the team's twitter accounts ( @BkCyclones, @InsiderCyclones, @CyclonesGM ) to your followers, or check in to a Cyclones event, you earn Cyclones Social Scoreboard points. There are 9 ways to earn points:
- Publicly "liking" or sharing things on the Cyclones Facebook page - Retweeting any one of the team's offical accounts ( @BkCyclones, @InsiderCyclones, @CyclonesGM ) - Using specific hashtags in your tweets - Posting the message of the day to Facebook and Twitter from your Cyclones Social Scoreboard Profile page - Checking in with Foursquare at the team's locations during events - Sending photos to CrowdCameo during the games. - Inviting friends to join the game
Points can be earned for most of these activities up to 3 times per day/unique item. Some items - Foursquare checkins and posting the Message of the Day - are only available daily.
What You Win
The more you interact, the more points you earn. The single highest scoring participant will be awarded the Grand Prize, which includes throwing out the First Pitch on Opening Day 2013 and a trip for two to Mets Spring Training 2013 in Port St. Lucie, FL (Flight for two (2), three (3) nights in a hotel near Digital Domain Park, and $250 "spending cash"). Second place prize is the use of an 18 person suite at MCU Park during the 2013 season with food and beverage included (mutually agreed upon date, excluding Opening Day). Third place prize is a $250 Gift Card to Kings Plaza Mall.
For other point values, prizes may include Cyclones apparel, a $5 Cyclones' Gift Coin or the chance to take BP on the field with three friends. Prior to every Cyclones home game, one lucky fan who checks in at MCU Park on Foursquare will be selected to throw out a ceremonial first pitch (must be registered with Cyclones Social Scoreboard to be eligible, winner will be selected approximately 30 minutes before scheduled start time).
Visit www.CyclonesSocialScoreboard.com for more information on these point values and how to redeem prizes.
