Cyclones Outduel Doubledays in Brooklyn

Auburn Doubledays News Release
Brooklyn, NY - On a night that saw a combined seven hits between the Doubledays and the Cyclones, it was Brooklyn who won the pitching duel in a 2-0 win at MCU Park on Thursday night.
Eduardo Aldama and Brian Dupra engaged in an old-fashioned pitchers duel for five innings, with Dupra striking out six and Aldama punching out eight. Both pitchers took one-hit shutouts to the fifth inning, which is when the game's first and only runs were scored.
The Brooklyn Cyclones loaded the bases in the fifth inning courtesy of a couple walks and a hit batsman. With two outs in the inning, Cole Frenzel fought off pitch after pitch in a 3-2 count before lining a single into left field, plating two runs, and giving the Cyclones the only runs of the game.
As a result of giving up that base hit, Brian Dupra ended up with the loss, his second of the year, despite pitching well enough for a win. The Doubledays offense couldn't get in rhythm against the Cyclones pitching staff, striking out a season-high 15 times in the loss.
Greg Holt and Manuel Rivera each pitched great in relief for the Doubledays. Holt, who has yet to allow an earned run this year, pitched two and one-third innings of scoreless relief while Rivera tossed a scoreless inning himself.
Auburn will look to win the series tomorrow night against the Brooklyn Cyclones when the two teams tangle in the final game of the three-game series at 7:00pm at MCU Park in Brooklyn, NY. Doubledays fans are invited to tune in to 89.1 FM in Auburn or www.auburndoubledays.com and join 'Voice of the Doubledays,' John Miller, with the pre-game show beginning at 6:45pm.
