Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

The first-place Cyclones return home this Friday for a weekend series against the Auburn Doubledays featuring Friday Night Fireworks, the Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest, a Jackie Robinson Tribute, an Ebbets Field model giveaway, Superhero Night (with a Comic Coloring Book giveaway, and the chance to take the field and run the bases in costume), and much more!

FRIDAY NIGHT FIREWORKS: On Friday, August 10th, the Cyclones will take on the Auburn Doubledays at 7pm. That night, fans are also invited to stay in their seats for the best views of the spectacular Coney Island fireworks shows!

Before the game, KeySpan Park will also host the Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest, which features more than 20 baseball-themed attractions including a minor league baseball museum, Xbox 360 Best Buy Home Run Derby video game trailer, and a fan festival midway with batting and pitching cages, bungee runs, a huge side-by-side giant slide, baseball bounce houses, and lots more interactive fun for baseball fans of all ages. For more information about the Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest, go to www.principal.com/funfest and www.pitchinforbaseball.org to learn more about "Pitch In For Baseball."

SUPERHERO NIGHT: On August 11th, all fans -- of all ages -- who attend the 6pm game in superhero costumes are invited onto the field for the National Anthem, and to run the bases after the game. That night will be "Superhero Night" at KeySpan Park, and the Cyclones will be celebrating the defenders of planet earth and the guardians of the galaxy.

From 5pm to 5:30pm, the Cyclones will judge the costumes in a pre-game contest, with prizes going to the top three costumes in the kids (14 and under) and adults divisions. First place in each division will get to throw out ceremonial first pitches in costume before that night's game, get $50 in Cyclones cash (which can be used for anything, anywhere in the ballpark), and get an autographed baseball signed by the 2007 Cyclones!

In addition, the first 1,500 kids in attendance (14 and under) will receive a Comic Coloring Book, featuring the adventures of two of Brooklyn's most heroic birds.

So strap on your capes and cowls, shine up your shields, see if the ol' utility belt still fits, hop in the batmobile, or just fly on over to KeySpan Park on Saturday August 11th for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

JACKIE ROBINSON DAY: On Sunday, August 12th, the Brooklyn Cyclones will host "Jackie Robinson Day" at KeySpan Park in Coney Island, prior to the team's 5:00pm game against the Auburn Doubledays. With Jackie's wife, Rachel Robinson, Founder of the Jackie Robinson Foundation and Della Britton Baeza, President and CEO of the Jackie Robinson Foundation and Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) college scholarship recipients in attendance, the Cyclones will conduct a pre-game ceremony, and honor the late baseball legend throughout the game. In addition, the first 2,000 adults (21 and over) in attendance will receive models of Ebbets Field, the baseball shrine in which Jackie achieved his legendary status.

Tickets to the August 12th Jackie Robinson Day at KeySpan Park range from $7 to $14, and are still available. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 718-507-TIXX.

EBBETS FIELD MODEL: On Sunday, August 12, the first 2,000 adults (21 and over) will receive an Ebbets Field model -- sure to be one of the hottest giveaway items of the entire summer! The model is a replica of the historic baseball shrine that housed some of the game's greatest players and moments, as well as countless memories for the Brooklyn faithful.

The KeySpan Park gates open at 3:30pm on August 12th, and only the first 2,000 adults (21 and over) will receive the Ebbets Field model. That night, the Cyclones will also pay homage to Jackie Robinson in a pre-game ceremony that will include an appearance by his wife, Rachel.

There are still great seats available for Sunday's game.

ALL-STARS: Each summer, the New York-Penn League showcases some of its best talent in the league's annual All-Star Game. The inaugural ASG was held in Brooklyn in 2005, then in Aberdeen in 2006, and this year in Hudson Valley on August 14th.

The Cyclones are once again well-represented among the league's stars. The Brooklyn coaching staff - manager Edgar Alfonzo, pitching coach Hector Berrios, and hitting coach Guadalupe Jabalera - by virtue of the league's best record, was tabbed to coach the National League team. Five Cyclones players were also named to the NL team: SS Matt Bouchard, 3B Jake Eigsti, C Jason Jacobs, OF Brandon Kawal, and RHP Dylan Owen.

ALL-STAR ROAD TRIP: The NewYork-Penn league will play its third annual All-Star Game on August 14th in Hudson Valley. The Cyclones have arranged a bus for fans who would like to travel to see the Cyclones' stars play in the game. For $40, you'll receive one ticket to the All-Star Game and round-trip bus transportation (the bus will depart from KeySpan Park at 2:30pm on 8/14. Hudson Valley is approximately 2.5 hours from Brooklyn).
