Four Jammers named to All-Star squad
August 9, 2007 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Jamestown Jammers News Release
The Jamestown Jammers proudly announce the inclusion of four of their players to the 2007 New York-Penn League All-Star roster. Third baseman Ryan Anetsberger, catcher Torre Langley, shortstop Carlos Piste and pitcher Garrett Parcell were named representatives for the Jammers before Wednesday's doubleheader versus Tri-City. This marks the second consecutive year the Jammers will send four of their own to the NYPL All-Star Game. This year's event will be held August 14 at Dutchess County Stadium in Fishkill, New York, home of the Hudson Valley Renegades.
Anetsberger has been perhaps the most consistent member of the Jammers offensive attack in 2007. The 2007 15th round selection of the Jammers' parent club, the Florida Marlins, is batting .279 and leads the team in total bases (72), hits (41), runs scored (25), triples (3) and is tied for the team lead in home runs with 6. Langley, the 2006 third round pick of the Marlins, is batting .275 with 22 RBI and is tied with Anetsberger and second baseman Ryan Curry for the club lead with six home runs.
Piste began the season on a tear and has recently rebounded following a shoulder injury. He's hitting .256 on the year with four home runs.
Parcell has the lowest ERA on the Jammers staff, posting a mark of 1.52. The first year professional has a record of 2-1 with three saves in 15 appearances, striking out 20 batters in 23 2/3 innings pitched.
The New York-Penn League All-Star Game enters its third season this year. The game features top prospects from American League affiliates against those from National League Affiliates. 2006 Jamestown players Hunter Mence, Spike McDougall, Jacob Blackwood and John Raynor (now all with full season A Greensboro) were a part of the 2006 NYPL National League All-Star team which fell to the AL All-Stars 4-1.
