Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones have signed defenseman Ryan Misiak for the 2015-2016 season. Misiak comes to Cincinnati after a productive four-year collegiate career at Mercyhurst University.
"Ryan brings a lot to this team, and he is a great skating defenseman with a high hockey IQ," said Cyclones Head Coach Matt MacDonald. "His ability to make plays in tough situations makes him stand out from a lot of players, and he also has the unique ability to play both forward and defense, which will be extremely valuable through out the season."
Hailing from Shelby Township, MI, Misiak, who converted to defense just one game into his senior season last year, led all Laker defensemen in scoring, accounting for eight goals and 16 assists, and earning All-Atlantic Hockey Association Second Team honors.
The 23-year-old skated the first three years of his college career as a forward, ranking in the top three on the team in scoring during both his sophomore and junior seasons. In 156 career games at Mercyhurst, Misiak accounted for 45 goals and 74 assists for 119 total points.
He signed an Amateur Try Out agreement (ATO) at the conclusion of last season with the Reading Royals, appearing in four games.
"We are happy to have a player of his style, and believe he has the capabilities to make an impact in his first full pro season," said MacDonald.
