July 29, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The ECHL Kelly Cup Champion Allen Americans, proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, announced today that the club has signed defenseman Aaron Gens to a contract for the 2015-2016 season.
"Aaron is a skilled and physical defenseman," said Allen Americans Head Coach and GM Steve Martinson. "He plays in all situations and logs a lot of minutes."
The native of Minnesota led the Americans defensemen in points last season, with a team record of 56 by a blue-liner. He was also named to the All-ECHL Second Team.
"I'm excited to be back," said Gens. "We had special group here last year that liked being around each other off the ice and had great chemistry together on the ice. I look forward to getting back to work here in a few months and start our title defense."
Gens played seven games in the American Hockey League in 2012 with the Lake Erie Monsters, following four years at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He averaged over 15 points a season in college, with his best numbers coming 2010-2011, when he had 19 assists in 38 games.
The Americans open the 2015-2016 regular season on Friday, October 16th against the Quad City Mallards. Season Tickets are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com or call 972-912-1000.
