TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Cincinnati will look to ring in 2012 the same way that they closed out 2011, with another win. After another shutout performance by Brian Foster last Friday, the Cyclones have now won five consecutive games and will bid for number six against the Greenville Road Warriors at U.S. Bank Arena. The teams have split a pair of meetings, with the Road Warriors victory coming in a shootout. The Clones have earned a 3-1-0-2 in the all-time series against their former assistant coach.
TONIGHT'S PROMOTION: Wet Wednesday / Pucks N Pinot / Pajama Party - Fans 21+ can enjoy $1 PBR and Miller High Life. In addition a pre-game wine tasting event is available for purchase! Plus, fans are encouraged to wear their best night-attire for Cincinnati's Largest Pajama Party!
SCOUTING THE ROAD WARRIORS: Dean Stork's club has kept pace in a tightly-contested South Division, going 6-2-1-1 in their last ten games and sits just one point back of division-leading Gwinnett. Brendan Connolly, who has earned four points against the Cyclones this year, ranks sixth in the ECHL in overall scoring by posting 35 points (18 goals, 17 assists) in 27 games. Justin Bowers has also put himself among league-leaders, collecting 32 points (6 goals, 26 assists) in 30 games. Jason Missiaen is Greenville's top active goaltender; this season he has earned a 6-3-0-1 record and a 2.39 GAA.
About Friday Night at Toledo: Chris Cahill's second period goal proved to be the game-winner as goaltender Brian Foster earned a 28-save shutout, lifting the Cyclones to a 3-0 victory over the Walleye in front of 8,200 at Huntington Center on Friday night. It was Foster's second blanking of the year and extended Cincinnati's season-long winning streak to five games.
Non Division? No Problem: The Clones play all four games this week against non-division opponents. This year, Cincinnati has combined for a 4-1-1 record against the South and Atlantic Divisions while outscoring them 20-15.
Cranking Up the Offense: As Jarrod Skalde's team approaches the season's halfway point, they are still among the league's top offensive teams. Through 25 games they are averaging 3.36 goal-scored per game, which ranks tied for fifth-most in the ECHL.
"Fozzie" Heads to The Show: Florida Panthers goaltender Jose Theodore was injured this past weekend, requiring the Panthers to fill a void in net. They decided to recall Cyclones net minder Brian Foster, who has gone 7-1 with a 2.64 goals-against average in his first eight starts for Cincinnati this season. It is Foster's first-career trip to the NHL.
A Month to Remember: The Cyclones capped off their second-best December record since returning to ECHL play in 2006. With their win over Toledo last Friday, the Clones wrapped up an 8-2 month. Although it was the second-most wins they've had in December, it was the fewest losses as well.
