Alaska's Goldie Is Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month
January 4, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release
PRINCETON, N.J. - Wes Goldie of the Alaska Aces is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for December. It is the third time in his career that Goldie has won the monthly honor.
Goldie tallied 11 goals and added 11 assists for 22 points, and was a +5, as the Aces went 10-1-3 during the month.
The 32-year old scored at least one point in 13 of 14 games during the month, and six times notched multiple points in a game. He opened the month with back-to-back multi-point games - scoring a goal and adding an assist in a 2-0 win against Bakersfield on Dec. 2 and registering two assists in a 4-3 overtime win against the Condors on Dec. 3. He scored two goals, both on the power play, in a 6-1 victory against Utah on Dec. 10, notched four points (1g-3a) in a 6-3 win over Ontario on Dec. 18 and had three points (1g-2a) on Dec. 28 in a 4-1 victory over Colorado. He closed the month on a seven-game point streak (5g-8a).
Goldie leads the Aces, and is tied for eighth in the ECHL, with 35 points (17g-18a) this season. Last season, Goldie was named ECHL Most Valuable Player after leading the league with 46 goals, setting an ECHL record in the process by becoming the first player in league history to score at least 40 goals in five consecutive seasons.
A native of London, Ontario, Goldie ranks 12th in ECHL history with 579 points (352g-227a) in 658 career ECHL games with Pee Dee, Victoria and Alaska. He is fifth all-time in games played and his 352 goals are just 16 shy of tying 2009 ECHL Hall of Fame inductee Rod Taylor for the most career goals in league history.
