Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

Brooklyn, NY - What began as a pitcher's duel, turned out to be a frustrating Thursday night for Brooklyn, as the Cyclones (26-23) fell to the Tri-City ValleyCats by a score of 5-1. A slim one-run lead would not hold up for Brooklyn, as their bats could not break through against the solid pitching and tight defense of Tri-City.

The early innings of tonight's game between the Cyclones and Tri-City ValleyCats featured stellar pitching by each side. Throughout the first five innings, the two teams combined for eights hits and one lone run. The Cyclones were able to scratch out a run in the bottom of the third inning after Ivan Naccarata followed a Jesus Gamero single with a booming RBI triple, and the Cyclones took a narrow 1-0 lead to the sixth inning.

The ValleyCats responded in the sixth to knot the game at 1-1. Tri-City then scored two runs in the seventh and two more in the ninth to take a 5-1 lead. The score would hold up and send the Cyclones home with the loss.

Right hander Ryan Meyers (0-3) was the hard-luck loser for the ‘Clones, despite a strong effort in which he allowed three runs and four hits over six innings, while striking out one and walking one. Reliever Jake Joseph followed with two solid innings of shutout baseball, adding one strikeout.

The Cyclones look to take the final game of the three-game set from the Tri-City ValleyCats, tomorrow beginning at 7:00pm at KeySpan Park. Great seats are still available and can be purchased over the phone by calling (718) 507-TIXX, logging on to www.brooklyncyclones.com, or in person at the KeySpan Park Box Office.
